OUR NEW BOOK STORE CAFE ON THE GROUND FLOOR
THE LOBBY CORNER IS NOW RF/ID SELF- CHECKOUT!
Take the elevator or stairs one flight down and look for our new location behind the cafe (Kookoo's Nest).
The Friends is a group of library enthusiasts who run our great book sale (pictured above), organize public events, volunteer their time, and raise money to help fund special library programs and services. Thanks to your donations (of/for books or simply $ to the friends), we have had a summer full of great friends funded childrens programs at all three branches. SISTER CITY Month was FEBRUARY this year (2012). Our booksale proceeds of $1999 was sent to the Quezalguaque, Nicaragua Library for buying new books. We are sending out our '12 newsletter to our current members soon. We are sponsoring English Conversation Groups (Grupos de la Conversacion). Volunteers are NEEDED to lead these groups, so if you are interested, please click on the link here and include your availability and experience. We are also the proud sponsors of the Brookline Poetry Series. If you prefer to donate or join the friends online, click Network For Good. Our 2011 Annual Meeting will be on June 8th in Hunneman Hall.

Justin Locke spent 18 years playing bass with the Boston Pops (as well
as playing in the Boston Opera, and Ballet orchestras). He worked
with such conductors as Arthur Fiedler, Henry Mancini, John Willams,
and Leonard Bernstein. Justin is now an author and speaker. In his
presentation (taken from his book “Real Men Don’t Rehearse”), he will
share a first hand (and generally hysterical) look at what it’s really
like to be a professional musician. Stories will include cannon
mishaps on the Esplanade, kiddie concerts gone horribly wrong, and of
course a story or two about Arthur Fielder!
Justin was recently featured as an "author@google" and in the Boston Globe, and he has also
appeared on CBS Radio, Greater Boston, and Chronicle HD. This is a
fun night you won’t want to miss. Find out more about Justin on his
website, www.justinlocke.com."
